MOTO GUO SS16: “but do not blame lulu”

Moto Guo is one of the many young and talented Malaysian designer quickly making his way to the top. The 23 year-old Raffles college alumni recently showcased his SS16 collection during the 3rd day of KL Fashion week. The collection but do not blame lulu is a set of as he say "A supposedly marketable collection sabotaged by showpiece-esque details and manipulation."

Lulu is said to be a figment of Moto’s imagination, he sees himself in lulu - jaded, confused and is facing an identity crisis. He wants to stray away from his commercialised and accessible previous collection and blow the minds of the audience with something a little more unexpected.

The design showcased a sporty geek persona to the ensembles with intricate appliqué on the garments. He plays a lot with silhouettes and the shapes of the pieces contradicting the norm in menswear. Each pieces also has quirky names like Blue Baby Dolphin, Banana Sleeves Hell-o Jumper and 'Self-Confusion' Quilted Denim Tank, which adds more character to them. 

We can say that Moto Guo will be one of our favourite designers to keep at heart.
