1. Thank you for teaching me to be careful (anxious) all the time.

My mom will always agonize over things that would never, ever happen - and she made such an incredible job by passing that lesson on to me. I would like to thank her for walking me to school everyday even though my school was only 5 minutes away just because that one time a lorry driver honk to me and wink. * roll eyes. I also want to thank her for sending me to mall and wait until she sees my friends, because she does not trust her evil daughter and someone might make me a prostitute. *roll eyes.

2. Thank you for continually listening to my endless nagging.

I'm egoistic when it comes to sharing my feelings with my mom. But when I do, I'll tell her about everything - college life, friends, boys. Whether it is a 30-second chat or a three hour long drive trying to stay awake, she will always find time to listen. Thank you.

3. Thank you for putting up to me

From a crying, shouting baby, to a touchy teen and an anxiety bundle of a college student, she has been through it all. She endured me in all phases of life, regardless of the feeling, the circumstance or the situation. Thanks, Umi. The crying isn't done yet.

4. Thank you for all the sacrifices you have made.

She always talk about how boys were going crazy after her in highschool (means she was pretty haha). So she might lose her perfect body when she was pregnant with me. Sorry that you have stretch marks now. Hehe. Thanks for sacrificing your sleep for taking care of me when I was sick. Thanks for the time you've given to make the individual I am today.

5. Thank you for inspiring me.

She has stood strong through every obstacle and have been my number one good example and supporter. She have formed me into the a strong, ambitious lady I am today and I thank her for that. Umi, you've been through a lot and yet you are still standing strong until now. You are amazing and I love you.

Mom would always tell me to stand up straight and look people in the eyes and tell them ‘You do not own me’. She is the very definition of strong. Mom’s advices would reach the rooftops with her high pitched voice but I know she means well. We do not appreciate mom that much and it bothers me that I forget.

Mom could not hate me even when I’ve let her down. She can be very tired of what I’ve turned out to be, yet she keeps cheering me on, taking my side every time. Mom would always take my word over anyone’s because her trust in me can knock down mountains.

Mom takes everyone’s fault and puts them on her shoulders. She carries them around for me so that I would not feel the weight of the world. Mom would panic even at the slightest wound on my knee and scold me afterwards for worrying her. Mom means well.

Even if this is in writing, or I express my thoughts about her in music, it will never be enough, it will never suffice how I would die for this woman who took care of a devil such as me. I still believe I do not deserve any ounce of her love, but here I am, still being loved dearly. Mom makes it seem like I am worthy of being loved from head to toe.

I would not be here today if it wasn’t for the way she brought me up and the way she hugs me tightly after every storm that hits my sky. I will forever love the woman that can take bullets from people’s mouth and flaunt back her immunity. She is forever my home.

To be honest, I had a pretty tough childhood. It was of blood, sweat and struggles. I know how to read, was enrolled in taekwondo and started kindergarten all at the age of four. When I get into schools, I had to participate in almost all co-curricular activities, joined as many sports as possible while maintaining good grades or I am going to get into some serious trouble. I was also a gymnastic athlete for MSN which requires me to go for training from 3 p.m to 6 p.m six days a week. Sucks, huh? I had to actually do life when I was not supposed to.

The reason why I had to do all of these is the same as why I managed to ace it all; because of my mum. Back then I always question why can't I have a normal life like other children but now that I’m all grown up, I understood why she was being brutal on me. My brother and I used to call her a lioness to explain how strict she was. Since we are not wealthy, I don't get things easily or for free even until now. I need to contribute (excel in exams/win a competition) to get rewarded. My mum taught me to be grateful with what I have and make the best out of it.

However, I won’t be where I am today or who I am now without all the exposures she’s given. She constantly reminds us to always do the right thing regardless what people say or think of you. Be an individual, fight for your passion. Don’t bother about someone else’s business because they might go through things that we don’t understand so it is not our right to judge. Just live your own life.
Aaww she's so cute & she loves Dsineyland more than we do
My lioness is 47 years old now, and she is the coolest mum ever. The older she is, the crazier she gets. Most people would think that we’re friends because of her personality and how she acts. She’s both open minded and conservative at the same time (weird, I know). She loveeessss travelling; backpacking to be precise. Last year alone we have visited 8 countries because apparently she doesn’t get tired from walking even at that age.

My mum is a secondary school teacher, a national coach for Paralympic athletes, and obviously a Wonder Woman. She is the most incredible person in the world and her inner strength is beyond believed. Losing my dad three years ago has profoundly changed our life and I honestly do not know how she handles everything in her plate. She is nothing but AMAZING.

Dear, Julaidah Ahmad. I want you to know that you’re a rock-star. I know we have our disagreements but I love you so much and I would trade my life for you. Your happiness is all that matters to me and thank you for being such a wonderful human being. There are really no words to sum up the sacrifices and pain you have to go through for our family and you deserve nothing but the best. Here’s to more adventures together. Happy Mother’s Day, my beautiful and heaven sent Mama.

Your one and only awesome daughter,
 XOXO

When you have nightmares, who is the one that comes running? When you fall, who picks you up? Who gives you life advices when you need it most? Who holds you when you cry because of heartbreak, who holds you? Who? You’re mother. That’s who. Sure, there are times when your mom annoys you, but you have to remember all the trouble and pain she went through raising you, shaping you to be the person you are now.

My mom, Hanariza Musa is a saint for being able to raise all of us in a somewhat perfect household. My parents are really strict but if they weren’t my siblings and I might be causing chaos because they can’t control us. While my dad is super strict, my mom is slightly lenient when we want to have fun. She’s the one saying that we should do what we want to do as long as it doesn’t break the rules.

Raising a shedevil like me is not an easy feat. What with all the climbing, the terrorizing and trouble making I was doing, she had the patient of a saint to be able to control me. Unlike most parents nowadays who babies their children, my mom ruled our household with an iron fist. When other parents are telling the teachers not to hurt their child, my mom went ahead and say go ahead, hit her if she’s not doing well. Shocking huh? But that’s my mom. She wants what’s best for us.

While I’m a shedevil, my other siblings aren’t any better. Each of us has our own personality and my mom never complained even once when she is raising us. My brothers can be causing havoc and yet she would just give them a look and they know they’re screwed. That is how powerful my mom is.

One thing that we are not doing nowadays is appreciating her. We let her do everything without offering any help. Well this needs to stop. Appreciating her doesn’t necessarily mean spending money on her. In fact, you can do that by just offering to lighten up her work load. Help around the house a little so she has time to relax and rest. Maybe once a while, cook dinner for her. She might not say it out loud, but she does appreciate your help.

My mom might not be as cool or as hip as your mom, but she’s my mom. That’s what matters the most. Words cannot convey how much I love my mom because without her, I wouldn’t be the person I am today and for that, I am forever grateful to have her in my life.

So Mom, you are the love of my life, the light at the end of the tunnel. I love you so much and thank you. For everything.
