Pinterest worthy hanging planters never looked so cool. Decorate your room by hanging your plants instead of having them on the table. We tried DIY-ing it and we’ll tell you that Macramé can look super complicated at first glance (we thought so too) but you’d be surprise on how quick you can make it.

You will need:

A spool of yarn/string/old t-shirts (thick enough to hold the weight)
Scissors
Potted plant

Step 1: cut your strings to 8 equal lengths. We made about one arm’s length. Have them longer so you can have extra length. Don’t worry if it’s longer than you’d expect, we’ll tell you later on.

Step 2: Gather them together and tie a knot. This will be your base.

Step 3: Divide the strings into 4 pairs.

Step 4: Our pot is small so we went about 10 cm down from the topknot. Tie the same knot for each pair.

Step 5: Now to create a square base, you’ll need to tie a knot on a new set of pairs by splitting the original pairs. Go down about 10cm from the previous knot.

Knot the second and third string together, the fourth and fifth cord together an then knot the first cord to the last one to create the base for the pot.

Step 6: Tie a loop at the remaining strings. Adjust them to how long you want it to hang. Cut off any excess.

Step 7: Place your potted plant on the base and Voila!

Getting the munchies but you are too lazy to go out? Rice Krispie treats are too easy to make so you have no excuse to not try this out. 4 to 6 per serving (depends on how hungry you are).

All you need are three simple ingredients:
  1.  Kellogg’s Rice Krispies
  2.  Marshmallows
  3. Two tablespoons of butter (you can melt it beforehand just like I have done)

1) Mix both butter and marshmallows in a bowl (let them get to know each other a bit better). Proceed to heat in the microwave for 3 minutes max.

2) Once they are melted, lash out your strong hands and start whipping the mixtures together until its all soft and gooey.

3) Add in the Rice Krispies and begin stirring until it becomes thick and joint together.

4) Scoop out the rice krispies and put them into a wider bowl (make sure to butter up the sides and bottom of the bowl to avoid the treats from sticking to the glass). Pat down the rice krispies into an even amount before putting them into the refrigerator for 20 to 25 minutes. Now you are good to go, in other words, all you can do now is wait.

5) Tadaaaa! Your Rice Krispie treats is done and ready to be munched. With these easy steps, now you will have something to sell for bake sale or maybe when you are bored at home in need of a snack. You are welcome.

Summer is almost over and we're coming into the rainy season, what better way to end it with a homemade ice cream. This weekend why don't you try and make your own ice cream. That's right, make your own vanilla ice cream with 5 simple ingredients
and you won't need to splurge on an ice cream maker.

Ingredients :

1 Cup of whole milk
1 cup of whipping cream
1/2 a cup of caster sugar
1 vanilla bean or 3 tsp of vanilla essence
5 egg yolks

Step 1

Over a medium heat boil the milk, whipping cream and the vanilla essence in a medium pot. When it's boiled run off the heat, cover the pot with a lid and wait for 10 minutes.

Step 2

While the mixture is being cooled, add the sugar into the egg yolk and give it a good whisk.

Step 3

Turn on the heat and set it to a low temperature. Add in the egg yolk and sugar mixture into the pot and constantly stir using a plastic spatula (5-10 minutes).

To test if it's ready run a finger down the spatula. If there is a clean slate or a clean channel, turn off the heat and proceed to step 4.

Caution: if you over heat the mixture the egg will start to scramble and we do not want that!

Step 4

Transfer the mixture into a heat proof bowl and place the bowl over a bowl of ice. This is too quickly cool down the melted ice cream before you place it in the freezer.

Step 5

When the ice cream is at room temperature transfer it into your preferred ice cream tub and place it in the freezer.

Step 6

Since we are not using an ice cream maker, after 30 minutes in the freezer give the mixture a generous whisk and place them back in the freezer. Do this about 4 times (2 hours). This is to prevent the ice cream from crystallising, so you'll get a smooth ice cream texture.

And you're done!

I know it is a little time consuming but I promise you it's worth the trouble.

Tips:

- If you over heat the mixture aka scrambled it, don't throw it away, just continue the steps. After placing it in the freezer for the first 30 minutes, give it a stir and the texture will ice cream smooth.

- You could lessen the amount of sugar if you're not into the overly sweet taste.

- Try it with different flavours. Chocolate would be a good one, add the melted chocolates with the milk and whipping cream.

- Drizzle chocolate over it, nuts, fruits etc

This lemon yogurt face mask will solve complexion problems faced by many women. It is a natural lightening and moisturising mask. The mask will act as chemical peeling for the skin. Which is awesome don’t you think? You don’t need to spend a lot of money just to get the perfect face mask that will change your life…forever (okay I exaggerated there). So, shall we start?

The ingredients that you will need:
- A tablespoon of natural yogurt (you can use any natural yogurt, but I like to use Greek yogurt).
- 1-2 teaspoons of lemon juice.
- A few drops of olive oil.

Directions:
- Mix all the ingredients together.
- Apply the mixture to clean face.
- Rinse after 15-20 minutes.

Tips:
- Use a brush to apply the mixture on your face (or just use hands ‘cause it’s more fun).
- Add potato starch or wheat flour for a thicker consistency.
- Use lemon essential oil if you’re lazy to squeeze a lemon.
- It is more suitable to use it before bedtime.

With the constant change of weather in our country, our lips suffer for it. Our lips often get chapped, covered in a layer of irritating, crusty, peeling dead skin that frequently ends up getting bitten or peeled off and I am sure that it doesn’t look good on you. As a woman, we always want to look good, but as a student, we are always out of money especially to buy beauty products that we can’t afford. Worry no more! Because I have found the perfect and easiest DIY lip scrub using basic ingredients that you can find in your kitchen. Here’s how;

The ingredients that you will need:
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar/white sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil/coconut oil (just to make the sugar stick together)
- A teeny tiny little drop of vanilla essence (to make it smell and taste yummy, but isn’t necessary)
- A small container (if you want to save it for later)

Directions:
- Mix 2 tablespoons of brown/white sugar with 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil to get it to stick together.
- Don’t forget the vanilla essence for yummy taste and odour!
- And… you’re done!

Rub the scrub in circular motion onto your lips once a week (twice, maximum!). Rub strong enough to loosen the dead skin. Don’t wash it right away! Let it dry for 60 seconds, and then wipe off with a damp tissue/washcloth. Lastly, apply lip balm afterwards for extra effectiveness. The scrub will make your lips soft and kissable ;)

Tips:
- Don’t over use it. Remember that our lips are fragile.
- You can add Vaseline too!
- Try combining the brown and white sugar.
- Try adding a little salt to make it taste better and plus, salt is a lot softer for the skin.
