The extravagantness of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Gala never fails to be the talk of the town. Yesterday's Met Gala was one of the most anticipated event of the year. This year's theme was China: Through the looking glass in respect to the exhibitions of Chinese artefacts, traditional Chinese clothing's and heritage which is what the actual event is actually for. But in all honesty it's the time where an entourage of stars, models and designers come together showcasing their fanciest fashion wear at the charity ball.

There were numerous showstoppers at the event some looked the part of the theme like Rihanna's over the top Princess of China-gold dynastic robe cum dress by Guo Pei, Lady Gaga's Givenchy black empress-esque cape with trousers, SJP's flamed headpiece, JLo's fiery red dragon Atelier Versace see through dress and of course Beyonce in Givenchy's see through dress with carefully placed sequins to cover the necessaries (according to bey, of course).

Other's took the theme less obvious and opt for a more subtle elegance but still with themed proof cliches aka red, cape and the cheongsam cut. Like Kate Hudson in the gold fitted Michael Kors dress, Kendall in a shimmering green dress with cut outs at the sides by Calvin Klein, Amal Clooney in a red Maison Margiela tiered gown, Liya Kebede in Philip lim and Zhang Ziyi in Carolina Herrera.
