Daniel Amin Fleischer, a 20 year-old ornamental rebel is slowly taking over the modelling industry in Malaysia with his signature look, the afro hair. Daniel has done shoots from Super Sunday to Wolfgang Lookbook and walking the runway for Joe Chia. This 6”4 fella is cool enough to sit with me over a few glasses of teh-o-ais and teh tarik at Central Market to talk about well, himself.
Hi, I’m Dan (giggle). I have three sisters and I am the youngest in the family. I have a band but we haven't decide on the name yet hahaha. I used to play the drum for them but now I play the bass.
Describe yourself in three words.
Weird, easy-going, annoying.

So, Dan, how did you get started in this industry?
I got started when I was featured in Juice magazine for their street style section. Back then, it was Ridduan or now famously known as TTFGA who discovered me. So basically everything else comes rolling my way after the feature.
What are the latest shoots you did?
Puma x Streething, fashion spread for Glam magazine and Stoned & Co.
Now that you’ve been doing it for a couple of years, I have to ask, what do you enjoy about it?
I think I enjoy my work probably because I like being dolled up. You know, designers will put you in these cool clothes and all you have to do is do as you’re told to. I also admire the people working in the photography and fashion industry. They are talented and fun people to be friends with.
But aren’t you shy posing in front of the camera?
Sometimes I am. It depends on how the crew and photographers make me feel. If they are friendly and funny I won’t be because I feel comfortable.
You love…
Good company, coffee, beautiful scenery, concerts, gigs and girls.
We’ve known each other for a while and I know you can get crazy sometimes. So what is your best and worst experience living the silly life?
That would be me getting my patella shifted as a result from jumping off from one car roof to another (stupid, I know). So I think I actually got the best of both worlds since I had so much fun doing that even though it hurts so bad and I was bleeding like hell, lol.
It’s indubitable there will always be people who envy and question our ability. So when people underestimate or degrade you, what keeps you going?
My family and friends but of course my passion too; I have to love what I do.
Any music recommendations for our readers?
I have a lot to suggest but as for now, go listen to Talking Heads, Alvvays, Battle, Viet Chong and Interpol!
Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years?
Working, I guess and hopefully still modelling.
There are a lot of youngsters trying to make it in this world, so what is your advice to the wild hearts out there?
